The Lynn Huether Future Leaders in Credit Unions Scholarship is a $2,500 merit-based scholarship offered to a candidate who demonstrates a strong aptitude and leadership in one or more of the following 11 leadership qualities:
- Be Proactive: They take initiative and responsibility for their actions and decisions, rather than reacting to circumstances.
- Begin with the End in Mind: They have a clear vision and plan, and they work towards achieving their goals.
- Put First Things First: They prioritize tasks and focus on the most important goals, rather than getting sidetracked by urgent but less critical matters.
- Think Win-Win: They seek solutions that benefit all parties involved, fostering collaboration and trust.
- Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: They prioritize active listening and empathy, striving to understand others' perspectives before expressing their own.
- Synergize: They value teamwork and collaboration, leveraging the strengths of diverse individuals to achieve common goals.
- Sharpen the Saw: They prioritize self-renewal and continuous improvement, ensuring they remain effective and engaged.
- Inspire Action: They motivate and empower their teams, fostering a sense of purpose and encouraging them to take initiative.
- Lead with Empathy: They demonstrate genuine care for their team members, creating a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Embrace Change: They recognize the need for continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging their teams to adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
- Welcome Different Views: They actively solicit and value diverse perspectives, fostering a culture of open communication and constructive feedback.
Any member who is going into their Senior year of High School and is in good standing with the Credit Union are invited to apply.
Here’s what you need to know about the Lynn Huether Future Leaders in Credit Unions Scholarship
Applicants will be asked to provide the following criteria:
- Personal written essay (500 words or more) OR a 3-5 minute video articulating their leadership qualities based on one or more of the criteria listed above.
- Detailed academic achievements including GPA, honors or awards and relevant work or volunteer experience.
- One of more letter(s) of recommendation that speak to their character, leadership abilities and potential
Applicants must be a Class Act member going into their Senior year of High School, and is in good standing with the Credit Union.
